The "gates" to the brewery
Once you get close to the gate you see each one has these elephants on them. The father created these as a way to protect the city and each elephant has the initials of their children on it and looking down from above are statues of the parents. I read all about this before coming, John was thoroughly impressed with my history knowledge.
Once inside it was a self guided tour and you get 2 drink tickets for beers.
some old beer bottles |
old wagons they use to transport the beer with |
they have their own horses! |
After the tour we headed to cash in our free beers and grab a bite to eat.
the bar, it had a copper coating which was really cool |
We ended up going halfies on the meals since they both sounded really good.
roast beef sandwich with lettuce, pickles, marinated onions, and onion straws |
sausage made with dark beer and potato salad |
After the brewery John mapped out a 3 .5 hour walking tour of the city for us. It was so pretty to walk round and look at all the architecture and history that we don't have here.
the city was filled with canals similar to Venice they offered canal tour but we did not take one |
changing of the guard at the palace |
the palace |
Mermaid statue that the Carlsberg donated to the city apparently it is one of these most popular statues/photographed in the world |
some weird car/tank/bike? we saw and John had to have a picture |
Copenhagen opera house |
it was cold! |
garlic bread |
meat & vegetable stuffed empanadas |
olives |
some type of fancy/traditional Spanish sausage |
After the 4 dishes were were deciding if we should get one more but then we decided dessert was the way to go. I ordered the creme brulee and John a cheese plate. I know I passed up the cheese but sweet was the way to go and John shared a bite or 2 of the cheeses. ;)
