Ham and cheese bar crawl part 1

Today we did a ham and cheese bar crawl John had planned out a map for our friends that hit 4 different places. This was the best idea ever!! We decided to start at 3pm to get to the smaller places before the dinner rush started to make it easier for a group of 8 to get seated. The first place on the tour was a place called the Butcher shop this is a small restaurant/bar located in south Boston. I was here one other time before when I first moved to Boston but I didn't remember how small it was, Timmy and Cart met us there.

BUTCHER SHOP
the menu's were on butcher paper so cute!
When you walk in there is a bar to the right and row of tables against the windows to the left and in the back there is butcher block in the bar of the restaurant where you can watch someone cut the meat on a meat slicer.  We sat at the bar and order 2 cheeses, 2 meats and picked veggies and we had a free bread basket.

honey we had as a side it was sooo good!!

trois and a vendeen

the pickled veggies were amazing!!

For the cheese selections we had the trois laits and the vendeen bichonne as for the meats I am not sure which ones we had. This would be a nice place for a date night the atmosphere was very chic and upscale compared to the other places we went. They also have a wide selection of nice cuts of meats in the back of the restaurant if you want to get a piece to go for dinner. :)

SALTY PIG:
Once finished we moved on to the second place the Salty Pig, walking in was a more low key place which was more our style. Walking in they had a bar and indoor and outdoor seating the walls were decorated with chalk writings. I am not sure of what since I didn't get that close to see, but the restrooms were covered in far side comics!

cool lamp above the bar made of bottle filled with red food coloring
Here they had 3 sections to the menu salty parts, stinky cheese, and sides. You could choose as many from each section as you wanted. Here Brendon met Cart, Timmy, John and we again ordered 2 cheese, 2 meats and a side.

the meat slicer
We ordered a vermont cheddar and a blue for John (he loves blur cheese) and for the meats we choose a serrano and a speck. Along with the meat and cheese we had grainy mustard and a fig spread and of course bread. Compared to the first place I think the cheese and meat were about even, I did enjoy the pickled veggies and the honey at the butcher shop a lot and here the fig spread was very good.
