Ten Tables

Tues night we had the pleasure of  having another dinner date with Jess and Trevor. This time we decided to give Ten Tables in JP a try, about once a month they hold a special on dinner. This month was wine and food pairing with the theme being Spanish. With these dinner you don't get to pick what you eat so it is definitely an experience!

inside the dining area small but very cute!

On the menu:

Sitting down to dinner they started us with bread.

Look how they bake it in one big round piece! Mmm can we say amazing? Can I please take one of those home?!?

Up 1st braised baby octopus with chickpeas & rhubarb bread salsa:

This is going to sound weird but the heads were edible the tentacles not so much. So I ate everything and left the tentacles.
The 2nd course was summer vegetable salad with snap peas, radish and dill.

This was good, but they decided to leave off the goat cheese to highlight the veggies.  The creaminess of the cheese would have gone really well with the salad.

Main course was pork tenderloin with striped bass botarga (caviar) .

I was hesitant about the caviar but it was in a cream sauce on the pork so you couldn't taste it at all. The pork came with some greens and wild rice, this was by far the best dish of the evening.

Dessert was rice pudding with a lemon brittle.

I enjoyed this but John didn't like it due to the texture. The lemony brittle peace was really good and added a crunchiness to the pudding.

Overall, the meal was just ok the wine parings feel a little short. The best part for me was the pork and dessert. The octopus I could have done without but I am glad I tried something new. The salad was ok but needed the goat cheese to balance the flavors of the dressing and veggies.
